What are symptoms for your appendix?
The main symptom of appendicitis is pain in the lower right abdomen. Initially, the pain may be mild and intermittent, but it typically worsens over time and becomes constant. The pain may also spread to the back, flank, or upper abdomen.
* Other symptoms of appendicitis include:
Low-grade fever
Nausea
Vomiting
Diarrhea
Constipation
Loss of appetite
Bloating
Gas
Abdominal tenderness
Muscle spasms
Rectal pain
In some cases, appendicitis can lead to more serious complications, such as:
Perforation (rupture) of the appendix
Infection of the abdominal cavity (peritonitis)
Sepsis (a life-threatening infection of the bloodstream)
If you are experiencing any of the symptoms of appendicitis, it is important to see a doctor right away. Early diagnosis and treatment can help to prevent complications and improve the chances of a full recovery.
