How do you know if are having an appendicitis attack?
Appendicitis is inflammation of the appendix, a small, finger-shaped organ that projects from the large intestine in the lower right abdomen. When the appendix becomes inflamed, it can cause pain, fever, nausea, and vomiting.
Symptoms of appendicitis can include:
* Pain in the lower right abdomen that suddenly becomes sharp and severe
* Pain that gets worse with coughing, walking, or riding in a car
* Pain that is accompanied by nausea, vomiting, and loss of appetite
* Low-grade fever
* Constipation or diarrhea
* Bloating
* Tenderness in the lower right abdomen when touched
* Inability to cough due to right-sided pain
* Muscle ache
Emergency surgery is typically required to remove the appendix before it bursts and causes infection in the abdomen. If you are experiencing any of the symptoms of appendicitis, it is important to see a doctor immediately.
