There are over 200 subtypes of human papillomavirus (HPV). Different subtypes of HPV are associated with different health conditions. Some subtypes, such as HPV-16 and HPV-18, are considered high-risk and are associated with cervical, vulvar, vaginal, anal, and oropharyngeal cancers.
