HIV Symptoms: Understanding the Timeline & Testing
HIV symptoms cannot be detected within 7 days. The time between infection with HIV and the development of symptoms, known as the seroconversion period, can vary widely from person to person. In most cases, symptoms appear within 2 to 4 weeks after infection, but in some cases, they may not appear for several months or even years.
The only definitive way to know if you have HIV is to get tested. HIV tests are widely available and can provide results in as little as 20 minutes. If you think you may have been exposed to HIV, it is important to get tested as soon as possible so that you can start treatment if necessary.
