5-HTP and Blood Pressure: A Review of Research
5-HTP does not appear to cause high blood pressure.
A 2016 review study in the Journal of Natural Products did not find any adverse events associated with 5-HTP, including any effects on blood pressure.
Another 2016 study in Nutritional Neuroscience looked specifically at the effects of 5-HTP on blood pressure. The study included 29 adult women who took either 5-HTP or a placebo for 12 weeks. The results showed that 5-HTP did not significantly affect blood pressure compared to the placebo.
