Understanding Normal Blood Pressure: Ranges & What They Mean
Normal adult blood pressure is less than 120/80 mmHg.
Blood pressure is expressed as two numbers, with the upper number (systolic blood pressure) representing the pressure when the heart beats and the lower number (diastolic blood pressure) representing the pressure when the heart rests between beats.
Some other blood pressure ranges include:
* Prehypertension: 120/80 to 129/80 mm Hg
* Hypertension Stage 1: 130/80 to 139/89 mm Hg
* Hypertension Stage 2: 140/90 or higher mm Hg
It's important to note that blood pressure can fluctuate throughout the day and may be higher or lower at different times. If your blood pressure is consistently above the normal range, you should talk to a healthcare professional for evaluation and management.
