- Hypertensive crisis: Blood pressure reading of 180/120 or higher. This is regarded as an emergency that requires an immediate response because of elevated pressure on the vessel wall that could cause a vessel rupture resulting in internal bleeding.
- Stage 2 High Blood Pressure:
Systolic reading between 160 – 179 or higher
Diastolic reading between 100 – 109 or higher
