Anesthesia and Stroke Risk: Understanding the Blood Pressure Connection

While receiving anesthesia, a person undergoes continuous monitoring including blood pressure. Too much anesthetic has not been conclusively linked with stroke in case of higher blood pressure, in fact, it may be counter-intuitive but hypotension (fall in blood pressure) following anesthesia is more likely to cause or exacerbate cerebral stroke.
