When administered through an IV, inositol has been effective at treating breathing troubles in premature babies.
Side Effects

Taking inositol may result in feelings of nausea, headaches, tiredness and dizziness.
It should not be taken if you are bipolar, as it may worsen symptoms of mania and agitation.
