How to Conceal a Cold Sore
Doctors say 40 million Americans suffer from recurring cold sores. They are caused by the herpes simplex type 1 virus. Herpes shows itself in the form of a cold sore, usually on your lip. They can be difficult to conceal because of their placement; but it is possible with a little bit of work. Follow these steps to conceal a cold sore.Things You'll Need
- Washcloth
- Herpes healing cream
- Stick concealer
- Cotton swab or makeup sponge
- Powder
Instructions
Rinse a wash cloth in warm water. Wring it out.
Hold the washcloth on your cold sore for a few minutes. The warmth and moisture will soften the area and remove any hardened skin.
Use your finger to dab on a cream that heals cold sores. An example is A+D Original Ointment, which is available at drug stores. The cream will protect the cold sore and ease your pain.
Get a makeup sponge or cotton swab. Coat it will a cream-stick concealer. Make sure the concealer color matches your skin perfectly.
Apply the concealer to the cold sore by carefully dabbing it. Cover the cold sore entirely.
Blend the concealer into your skin. Set it by applying translucent or skim-matching powder.
Reapply as the makeup wears off or after sweating.
