What solution would make a red blood cell swell?

A red blood cell would swell in a hypotonic solution. A hypotonic solution is one in which the concentration of solutes outside the cell is lower than the concentration of solutes inside the cell. This causes water to move into the cell in order to equalize the concentrations. As water moves into the cell, the cell will swell.
