Room Heater Surfaces: Why the Shine?

Room heaters do not typically have bright polished metal surfaces. Although shiny metal surfaces do exist in some parts of a room heater, such as the reflector behind the heating element, these surfaces are not polished to a bright finish. Instead, they are usually coated with a layer of paint or other coating to improve their emissivity and overall heating performance.
