Shingles and Swimming: Risks and Precautions
It's generally not recommended to swim in a pool while having shingles, as the virus that causes shingles can spread though contact with water that has been contaminated.
Swimming in chlorinated pools can irritate your shingles rash and cause it to become more painful. Additionally, the virus that causes shingles can spread to other parts of the body or to other people if it comes in contact with water.
If you have shingles, it's best to avoid swimming in pools until your rash is fully healed.
