Location:
The heart is located in the mediastinum, which is the space in the chest between the lungs. It sits slightly to the left of the center of the chest, behind the sternum (breastbone). The base of the heart is at the top, pointing toward the right shoulder, while the apex (tip) of the heart is at the bottom, pointing toward the left hip.
