AED & Pulse: What to Do When a Pulse is Detected
If you feel a pulse while using an AED
1. Stop CPR and AED use immediately. Turn off the AED and allow the person to rest.
2. Call 911 or your local emergency number. Continue to provide care until professional help arrives.
3. Carefully monitor the person. Check their airway, breathing, and pulse regularly. If their pulse stops or becomes weak again, start CPR and AED use again immediately.
4. Explain the situation to the emergency personnel when they arrive. They will take over care of the person.
