Hair Care After Coloring: When Can You Wash Your Hair?
It depends. In general, you should wait at least 24-48 hours after coloring your hair before washing it. This will give the color time to set and prevent it from fading or bleeding. Some hair stylists recommend waiting even longer, up to 3 or even 4 days.
If you absolutely must wash your hair sooner than 24 hours, be sure to use a mild, sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner and avoid any products that contain alcohol, which can dry out your hair and damage the color. Be sure to also use cool water, as hot water can open the hair cuticles and cause the color to bleed or fade.
