Salt and Diarrhea: Understanding the Connection
Too much salt in the body can indeed cause diarrhea. This is because of the way the body regulates water and sodium balance. When you consume too much salt, your body retains more water in order to dilute the sodium concentration. This excess water can lead to diarrhea.
In addition, high sodium levels can also irritate the intestines and cause diarrhea. This is because the intestines absorb water and sodium from food and drink. When the sodium levels are too high, the intestines cannot absorb as much water, leading to diarrhea.
