Understanding Eye Blink Sensors: How They Work at Night
The eye blink sensor uses an infrared (IR) light to illuminate the eye and a camera to capture the reflected light. The IR light is invisible to the human eye, so it does not interfere with night vision. When the eye blinks, the reflected light is interrupted, and the sensor detects this change in light intensity. This change in light intensity is then used to trigger the desired action, such as turning off a light or dimming a screen.
Some eye blink sensors also use an accelerometer to detect movement of the head. This can help to distinguish between an actual eye blink and other movements, such as head shaking.
Eye blink sensors are often used in conjunction with other biometric sensors, such as facial recognition or voice recognition, to improve the accuracy and security of biometric systems.
