Understanding Light Sensitivity: Causes, Symptoms & What to Do
Light sensitivity isn't a topic that you hear about frequently but it is one that some people deal with daily. In some cases light sensitivity may be caused by an underlying eye disease, but some people may be light sensitive with no discernible physical cause.
Instructions
Walk into a brightly lit room. Does the light immediately hurt your eyes? Do your eyes still hurt even after you've been in the room long enough for your eyes to have adjusted to the light?
Step outside on a sunny day. Do you automatically reach for your sunglasses? Do you always wear sunglasses when in the sun?
Go where the lighting is florescent. Do you get a headache shortly after being there?
Observe how often you get headaches or migraines. Where do you spend most of your time each day? What type of lighting is used?
Pay attention to the lighting you use most often at home. Do you turn on overhead lights when you enter a room or do you prefer the soft light of a lamp? People with light sensitivity may be more likely to turn on a lamp.
