Step-by-Step Guide: Inserting Frequency 55 Contact Lenses - Expert Tips
Inserting contact lenses often proves frustrating for new lens wearers. Soft contact lenses like Frequency 55 require a certain technique to allow the contact lens to fit inside the eye properly. Make sure to keep your hands clean and to find a location with a mirror such as a bathroom. Allow yourself at least 15 minutes if this is your first time putting in contact lenses without the help of an optometrist.Things You'll Need
- Mirror
- Contact lens solution
Instructions
Wash your hands and pat them dry with a paper towel or another lint-free towel.
Open the lens package by pulling off the foil tab. The contact lens should float in the solution but on occasion it will stick to the foil tab.
Remove the lens with your index finger and examine it to make sure it has no cracks or tears. The lens should assume a curved shape. If the lens shape looks like a cone then the lens is inside out. Flip an inside-out lens in order to achieve the bowl shape.
Use the index finger of your other hand and your middle finger to pull apart the top and bottom eyelids.
Press your fingertip into your eye gently. Once you feel the lens on your eye, remove your finger. Try not to blink for a brief moment to allow the lens to sit properly on your eye.
If the lens feels off or you cannot see properly, then remove the lens and start over. Make sure to apply extra solution if you take out the lens.
Repeat these steps with your other eye.
