Side effects of Megace include weight gain, reduced sexual desire, unexpected vaginal bleeding, gas and insomnia. Men may experience the inability to develop or sustain an erection long enough to have intercourse.
Serious Side Effects

Serious side effects of Megace include nausea, vomiting, dizziness, blurred vision, weakness, leg pain, difficulty breathing, slow or difficult speech, chest pain, the feeling of heaviness in the chest and numbness or weakness in a leg or arm.

According to the Nursing 2010 Drug Handbook, Megace may cause high blood sugar levels in people with diabetes. Physical symptoms of a high blood sugar level include frequent urination and extreme thirst or hunger.

While taking Megace, women who might become pregnant should use a reliable method of birth control since this medication may cause harm to the developing fetus. If you plan to breastfeed or become pregnant, contact your physician as soon as possible.
