Some doctors think chronic fatigue may be the lingering effect of some type of viral infection. Others attribute it to anemia or hypoglycemia. Also, it may be a side effect of depression.
Symptoms

The most prevalent symptom of chronic fatigue syndrome is extraordinary fatigue. However, individuals with chronic fatigue syndrome may also experience muscle pain, joint pain, headaches, sore throat, concentration difficulties and pain in the lymph nodes located under the armpits and in the neck.
Diagnosis

Chronic fatigue syndrome is typically diagnosed when other conditions have been ruled out and when fatigue has persisted for at least six months.
Medical Treatment

Medications may be used to treat depression, allergies and general pain symptoms.
Lifestyle Treatment

Regular exercise may help alleviate symptoms of chronic fatigue syndrome. Also, improving sleep habits may help as well.
