How to Request a Concession for a Disability
Individuals with disabilities can request concessions through their school or workplace. Individual's needs may relate to issues with illness, mobility, vision or mental capabilities. These concessions include medical leave, job restructuring, modified work schedules and making existing facilities accessible, such as providing an interpreter.
Instructions
Request a concession by writing a formal letter to a school official or an employer.
Include specific information about what is needed in the written request. Only the individual and his doctor understand the full limitations of the disability, which is why medical documentation and a doctor's note may be submitted along with the written request.
Review state and federal disability laws and company policies regarding disability concessions before submitting the request.
Direct your request to the proper department. For schools and universities, contact the school's office of disability services. For businesses, contact human resources.
