What Happens If Gall Stones Pass?
Gallstones form in the gallbladder when the digestive juices get too thick. They may be as small as sand or as large as a golf ball. Some gallstones require surgical removal, while some will pass normally.-
Understanding Gallstones
-
A lot of people have gallstones and don't know it. These tiny pebble like substances are created when liquid bile contains too much cholesterol. Bile salts harden into gallstones, which may or may not cause blockages in the small intestines.
Passing Gallstones
-
If gallstones are small, they will most likely pass into your bowel and out in your stool. Even small gallstones may cause pain in your gallbladder. The pain usually starts fast, often after you eat, but will normally subside in about 15 minutes.
Surgical Removal
-
When gallstones are large, they will not be able to pass normally from your system. In such cases, endoscopic surgery is required to remove the stones directly from your lower digestive system.
Warnings
-
Only a physician may diagnose and treat gallstones.
