It has a tube that connects directly to the insulin pump and a cannula that connects to your body. The tubing and cannula are connected at the infusion set. There are many styles of infusion sets available. Each infusion set is specific to a brand of insulin pump. Some infusion sets are specific to an insulin pump model. Regardless of these variables, all infusion sets can be easily opened and ready to use.Things You'll Need

- Alcohol swab
- Infusion set

Instructions
Open the Infusion Set
Before opening the infusion set, remember to wash your hands thoroughly. Place the infusion set package on a clean surface with the paper backing facing you. Carefully open the infusion set package by tearing the paper backing.
Take the infusion set and tubing out of the package. Place the tubing aside at this time.
Hold the infusion set in one hand and peel off the paper covering the adhesive. The paper wrap may come off in more than one piece. Discard the paper.
With a firm grip on the infusion set, hold back the exposed adhesive and insert the infusion set into your skin. Remove the needle portion of the infusion set. This will leave the cannula inserted in your body for insulin delivery. Discard the needle.
After attaching the tube to your insulin pump and priming the insulin according to manufacturer's directions, attach the tubing to the cannula inserted in your skin. You are now ready to have insulin flow from the pump to your body.
