Usage

Use insulin before the expiration date; if there is discoloration or cloudiness, then discard it.

Regular blood testing while on insulin is a must; Lantus cannot be mixed with any other insulin, or diluted in any way.
Storage

Any unopened or unused bottles of insulin need to be kept in the refrigerator, never the freezer; insulin cannot be left out for longer than 28 days, or exposed to direct sunlight.

A common side effect of Lantus insulin is hyperglycemia. Other effects may also include injection site reactions, itching and possible rash.
