Green Vomit in Children with Type 1 Diabetes: Causes & What to Do
Children who have type 1 diabetes do not vomit green unless there are underlying conditions.
Green vomit is sometimes seen in children when they have gastroenteritis (stomach flu). This can be caused by rotavirus, norovirus, or other viruses or bacteria that cause inflammation in the stomach and intestines. The green colour of the vomit is due to the presence of bile, which is a greenish-yellow fluid produced by the liver and stored in the gallbladder. Bile helps to break down fats in food and can be regurgitated into the stomach and mouth when a child is vomiting.
