Inspect the feet daily for any breaks in the skin, redness, swelling, or drainage.- Gently wash the feet with mild soap and warm water, and dry them thoroughly.
- Apply a thin layer of moisturizer to the feet to prevent dryness and cracking. Trim the toenails straight across and file any rough edges.
- If the resident has any open wounds, clean them and apply a bandage.
- Wear shoes that fit well and provide good support.
- Avoid going barefoot.
- See a doctor or podiatrist if you have any concerns about the resident's feet.
