Vicks VapoSteam: Usage, Ingredients & What It Treats
Vicks VapoSteam is a camphor product that temporarily relieves coughing associated with a bronchial inflammation, common cold or flu. Vicks VapoSteam also includes alcohol, eucalyptus oil, cedarleaf oil, laureth-7, menthol, nutmeg oil, poloxamer 124 and silicone. This particular Vicks product is indicated for a cough only. Other Vicks products are more suitable for chest congestion, sore throats and other symptoms. You can use VapoSteam with a Vicks hot steam vaporizer or other vaporizers suitable for hot steam.Things You'll Need
- 1 tbsp. Vicks VapoSteam solution
- 1 quart cold water
- Hot steam vaporizer
Instructions
Add Vicks VapoSteam solution to cold water in a ratio of 1 tbsp. VapoSteam to 1 quart water. Never add VapoSteam solution to hot water.
Add VapoSteam and water mixture to Vicks Steam Guard Vaporizer or other vaporizer suitable for hot steam.
Secure the steam unit and place vaporizer in a flat, stable location that is water- and heat-proof, four or more feet away from the bedside.
Plug in the vaporizer. As the water heats, the vaporizer should begin to release steam.
