Nosebleeds and Rubbing Alcohol: Risks and Safer Alternatives
Rubbing alcohol should NOT be used on nosebleeds.
While rubbing alcohol may help to cauterize the blood vessels and temporarily stop the bleeding, it can also damage the delicate tissues of the nose and lead to further complications. The vapors can also cause irritation and dizziness.
Instead, it is best to use saline nasal spray or irrigation to help clear the nasal passages and stop the bleeding. If the nosebleed is severe or does not stop after several minutes, it is best to seek medical attention.
