Chlamydia is one of the most frequently transmitted sexually transmitted diseases (STDs). It is caused by the bacterium _Chlamydia trachomatis_, which can infect both men and women.Chlamydia often causes no noticeable signs and symptoms, this condition is known as asymptomatic. As a result of not causing any symptoms, many infected individuals remain undiagnosed and unknowingly transmit the bacteria to sexual partners.
About 75% of infected women are asymptomatic.
About 50% of infected men are asymptomatic.
