Secondary stage of syphilis
- Develops 4 to 10 weeks after the initial infection (primary syphilis).
- This stage is characterized by a widespread rash that may also affect the mucous membranes of the mouth, vagina, and anus.
- Other symptoms may include fever, fatigue, headache, sore throat, and swollen lymph nodes.
- The rash typically lasts for 2 to 6 weeks and then disappears, even without treatment.
- However, the infection is still present in the body and can progress to the latent or tertiary stage if not treated.
