How to Find Your Pulse: Location and Pulse Rate

There is no artery in the wrist to take a pulse. The pulse is usually taken on the radial artery, which runs along the thumb side of the wrist. To do this, place two of your fingers (index and middle finger) on the radial artery, below your thumb. Press softly and count the number of beats in 15 seconds, then multiply by four to get the number of beats per minute.
