Artery Location: Why Some Are Deep & Others Are Close to the Surface

It is not accurate to assume that arteries are generally buried deep within the body. While some major arteries are located deep within the body, such as the aorta, many arteries are located closer to the surface, just beneath the skin. This allows for easier accessibility for medical interventions such as pulse checks and blood draws, as well as providing some level of protection from external harm.
