How to Soak a Burn With Epsom Salts
Epsom salts, technically known as magnesium sulfate, are traditionally used for soaking tired feet in a bucket of warm water. Because Epsom salts have anti-inflammatory properties, they can be soothing to skin disorders such as eczema and psoriasis, as well as to sunburns and first-degree burns. While mild burns usually resolve on their own within a week, you can relieve the discomfort and encourage skin healing by soaking the burn with Epsom salts.Things You'll Need
- Epsom salts
- Bathtub
- Measuring cup
- Bucket or large bowl
Instructions
Use Epsom salts for a sunburn. Add 2 c. Epsom salts to a bathtub of cool or warm water, depending on your preference. Relieve the sunburn pain by soaking in the tub.
Add 1/4 c. of Epsom salts per 1 qt. of cool or warm water in a bucket or large bowl. Use this solution to soak a first-degree burn from a stove, cooking pan, iron, or other hot item.
Repeat this process as often as you want for pain relief.
