How to Splint a Broken Finger
Find material to use for splint. A small piece of wood, a stick, or rolled up cloth or newspaper will work.
Place splint under finger and extend it into palm.
Tie a strip of cloth above and below the fracture around the finger and splint, as well as around the next finger to add stability.
Do not tie cloth directly on top of fracture.
Avoid tying the cloths too tightly; make sure the finger does not start pulsing with pain or go numb. If it does, loosen the ties around the splint.
