Severe Leg Wound First Aid: Bleeding & Deep Cuts - What to Do
If you're bleeding:
- Stop the bleeding. Apply pressure to the wound with a clean cloth or bandage. If bleeding does not stop after several minutes, seek medical help.
- Clean the wound. Flush with clean water and gently soap. Clean the surrounding area if possible.
If you see a bone or your insides:
- Do not try to put them back in place.
- Cover the wound with sterile dressing.
Seek medical help immediately if you cannot stop bleeding or if the cut seems deep or serious.
