How to Lace Up Sneakers to Relieve Foot Pain
Shoelaces can be tied in a variety of ways. Some individuals tie their shoes too tightly while others leave them too loose. According to North Coast Foot Care, the most common complaint with shoe fit is excessive pressure on the top of the foot. This is often caused by shoes that are laced too tightly. Shoes that are tied too tightly can place pressure on bones, blood vessels and nerves. There are methods of lacing your shoes to help relieve foot pain.
Instructions
Top of Foot Pain
Lace your shoes as normal through the first two rows of holes.
Skip the following two rows of holes. This is completed by lacing the holes on the same side.
Cross the laces for the next two rows.
Skip lacing the following two rows.
Cross the laces on the last row of holes and tie to fit snugly.
Central Foot Pain
Lace your shoes as normal through the first three rows of holes.
Skip the fourth row of holes completely. This is completed by crossing the laces without threading them through the holes.
Lace the remainder of the shoe as normal. Tie to fit snugly.
