Understanding the Three Types of Muscles: Skeletal, Smooth & Cardiac
Three major types of muscles make up the muscular systems: skeletal, smooth, and cardiac.
1. Skeletal muscle, which is voluntary and located in the limbs and trunk, is responsible for movement.
2. Smooth muscles, located in the walls of internal organs, are involuntary muscles responsible for regulating the movement of substances through the organs.
3. Cardiac muscles, found only in the heart, are involuntary muscles that contract and relax to pump blood.
