Arm Muscles: Types, Locations, and Functions
Biceps brachii: Located on the front of the arm, the biceps brachii is a two-headed muscle that allows you to bend your elbow and rotate your forearm.
Triceps brachii: Located on the back of the arm, the triceps brachii is a three-headed muscle that allows you to straighten your elbow.
Brachioradialis: Located on the front of the arm, the brachioradialis helps to flex the elbow and supinate the forearm (turn the palm up).
Supinator: Located on the back of the forearm, the supinator helps to supinate the forearm.
Pronator teres: Located on the front of the forearm, the pronator teres helps to pronate the forearm (turn the palm down).
Flexor carpi radialis: Located on the front of the forearm, the flexor carpi radialis helps to flex the wrist and bend your arm toward the thumb side.
Extensor carpi radialis: Located on the back of the forearm, the extensor carpi radialis helps to extend the wrist and bend your arm toward the little finger side.
Flexor carpi ulnaris: Located on the inside of the forearm, the flexor carpi ulnaris helps to flex the wrist and bend your arm toward the little finger side.
Extensor carpi ulnaris: Located on the outside of the forearm, the extensor carpi ulnaris helps to extend the wrist and bend your arm toward the thumb side.
