Actin and myosin are the two main proteins found in skeletal muscle.
Actin is a globular protein that polymerizes to form thin filaments. Myosin is a large, filamentous protein that has a head region that binds to actin and a tail region that interacts with other myosin molecules to form thick filaments. The interaction between actin and myosin is responsible for the generation of force in skeletal muscle.
