Understanding the Umbilical Cord: Structure and Function
The umbilical cord is made from three vessels: two arteries and one vein. The arteries carry deoxygenated blood from the fetus to the placenta, while the vein carries oxygenated blood and nutrients from the placenta to the fetus.
