Numb Bruise After Softball Injury: Causes, Healing & When to See a Doctor
In most cases, a numb bruise will heal on its own within a few weeks. If the numbness persists for longer than 4 weeks or if you experience other symptoms, such as pain, swelling, or discoloration, you should see a doctor.
Here are some tips to help your bruise heal:
* Rest the injured area. Avoid activities that put pressure on the bruise, such as running or jumping.
* Elevate the injured area. This will help reduce swelling and bruising.
* Apply ice packs to the bruise. Do this for 20 minutes at a time, several times a day.
* Take over-the-counter pain relievers, such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen, to relieve pain and swelling.
* Wear compression stockings. These will help reduce swelling and support the injured area.
If your symptoms worsen or if you develop any new symptoms, see a doctor right away.
