Low Albumin Levels & Fluid Balance: Understanding the Connection
Fluid absorption from tissues into bloodstream decreases when albumin levels in the blood are below normal.
Albumin is a protein produced by the liver that helps maintain the balance of fluids in the body. When albumin levels are low, the fluid can leak out of the blood vessels and into the tissues, causing swelling. This can lead to a decrease in blood volume and blood pressure, which can cause symptoms such as dizziness, lightheadedness, and fainting.
