Chickenpox & Rectal Care: Safe Treatments & Prevention
It is not recommended to use either calamine or Desitin for chickenpox around the rectum. Chickenpox is a highly contagious viral infection, and touching the affected area with your hands or any objects can spread the infection to other parts of the body.
Instead, you should wear loose-fitting clothing, keep the area clean and dry, and avoid scratching the blisters. You can also take over-the-counter medications, such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen, to relieve any pain or itching.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your healthcare provider.
