Chickenpox After Shingles: Are You Protected?
It is not possible to get chickenpox after having shingles.
Shingles is caused by the varicella-zoster virus, which is the same virus that causes chickenpox. After a person has had chickenpox, the virus remains dormant in their nerve cells. In some cases, the virus can reactivate and cause shingles. However, once a person has had shingles, they are immune to chickenpox.
