Bird Flu vs. H1N1: Understanding the Differences
The bird flu and H1N1 are not the same.
The bird flu is a disease caused by viruses that normally infect birds. There are many different strains of bird flu viruses, and some of these strains can infect humans. The most common strain of bird flu that infects humans is H5N1.
The H1N1 virus is a strain of the influenza virus. Influenza viruses infect the nose, throat, and lungs. The H1N1 virus was responsible for the 2009 flu pandemic.
The bird flu and H1N1 can both cause serious illness in humans. However, the bird flu is typically more deadly than H1N1.
