Heimlich Maneuver: Effective Abdominal Thrust Technique & Location
Between the person's shoulder blades
- Stand behind the person and wrap your arms around their waist, just above the navel.
- Clench one fist and place it between their navel and rib cage.
- Grasp your fist with your other hand and push it inward and upward rapidly into the abdomen, using quick, upward thrusts.
- Continue with forceful thrusts until the object is expelled, or the person starts coughing or breathing again.
