Bronkaid (Ephedrine): Uses, Benefits & Safety - Bayer
Bronkaid caplets, manufactured by Bayer Health Care, are used by patients who have trouble breathing due to respiratory problems, such as bronchial asthma, common colds and sinusitus. The caplets, which contain a main active ingredient of ephedrine, provide temporary relief, and are taken every four hours. Bronkaid is not recommended for children under the age of 12, and you should consult your doctor before taking Bronkaid.-
Loosening Up Mucus
-
Guaifenesin is an expectorant that acts by causing a reflex stimulation of the bronchial glands. This results in the thinning of bronchial secretions such as phlegm. When mucus begins to loosen, coughs become more productive, helping to drain mucus from the throat.
Relieving Shortness of Breath and Wheezing
-
The Theophylline -- which belongs to the xanthine family -- found in Bronkaid acts inside of the lungs to improve breathing, while ephedrine sulfate helps to relieve uncomfortable nasal stuffiness. Theophylline relaxes muscles and lessens the lungs' response to irritants.
Loosening Up Chest
-
A tightened chest is a common and painful symptom of asthma, and ephedrine helps to open up the airways. Ephedrine is a bronchodialator, and as such, it acts by relaxing the bronchial smooth muscles.
