Prevent Mouth Irritation After Nebulizer Treatment: A Guide
Some nebulizer medications, like steroids, can cause a yeast infection in the mouth, dryness or hoarseness; other medications can leave a bad taste in your mouth. Examples of steroid medications include Asmanex, Alvesco, Flovent, Pulmicort, Qvar, Aerobid and Asmacort. Rinsing your mouth and brushing your teeth after nebulizer use can decrease the incidence of these unpleasant side effects.
Instructions
Take a drink of water without swallowing.
Gargle the water and swish it around your mouth for 10 to 20 seconds.
Spit the water into a sink or a glass. Don't swallow any of the water.
Brush your teeth with a toothbrush and toothpaste if a bad taste remains in your mouth.
